Woodie King, Jr.’s New Federal Theater will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a special Gala at the historic Edison Ballroom at 4pm on Sunday, May 22. The event will be co-hosted by CBS News’ Randall Pinkston and actress Lynn Whitfield. Chairmen for the event are Laurence Fishburne, John Morning, and Susan Taylor. The Honorary Chair is Dr. Maya Angelou.

Alicia Keys to Play One-Off London Show

Alicia Keys is to play a one-off London show to celebrate the tenth anniversary of her debut album Songs in A Minor. The intimate show, which is to be titled ‘Piano & I: A One Night Only Event With Alicia Keys’, will involve the singer-songwriter showcasing her Grammy-winning debut in its entirety at the Royal Albert Hall on June 13.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Songs in A Minor, than by holding a special, intimate concert for my fans,” Keys explained in a statement. “It’s my absolute favorite way to perform. There is something so special about just me on my piano connecting with the audience.

“It brings me back to the very beginning when I could only perform with a keyboard and to now be able take it back to the essence of who I am with this show, it is so exciting.” The news follows the recent announcement that Alicia Keys is to repackage her million-selling debut in deluxe and collector editions for the anniversary.

Alicia Keys to be Honored With Professional Performing Arts School Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award

The Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS) in New York City will honor Grammy® Award winner and alumna, Alicia Keys with the “Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award” at their 20th Anniversary celebration. The gala will be held at the Roundabout Theater on April 4th in New York City. Keys will accept the PPAS “Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award” at the Gala.

Will Toni Braxton Duet With Alicia Keys

Toni Braxton has revealed that she hopes to duet with Alicia Keys on her latest single ‘Woman’. The song – a cover of the Delta Goodrem track from her 2007 Delta LP – is the latest cut from Braxton’s comeback album Pulse.

Braxton previously told Digital Spy that she was keen to collaborate with Keys because they share a passion for playing the piano. The singer has now revealed that there is a strong possibility the pair will record a remix of her latest track.

She told Rap Up: “[Atlantic Records CEO] Craig Kallman mentioned me and Alicia doing a new version of it where we both play piano, so maybe!”

Alicia Keys shed her superstar image this week for a low-key Zulu blessing ceremony held beneath a “healing tree” in KwaZulu-Natal.

The Grammy award-winning singer, who is about five months pregnant, arrived in South Africa to headline the Fifa Kick-Off Concert in Soweto last week.

On Wednesday, Keys and Swizz Beatz, her music producer fiancé, both decked out in beads and leopard print, had their union and their unborn child blessed in a traditional ceremony at Illovo on the South Coast.
