During her month-long trip, Alicia witnessed countless stories of people infected with HIV who, despite the odds, were overcoming their personal hardships with astonishing bravery. Some of the communities that Alicia visited on her pilgrimage had an HIV prevalence rate of over 40%, but within such tragic circumstances she was overwhelmed with incredible accounts of resiliency and triumph.

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008Alicia Keys lent her time to AIDS education, and NYU students got a sneak peak at the film that resulted. Last night at the Kimmel Center, NYU’s chapter of the Keep A Child Alive organization previewed the unreleased documentary “Alicia in Africa: Journey to the Motherland.” In the film, Keys narrates her journey to areas of Africa devastated by AIDS. She meets people whose lives have been drastically affected by HIV/AIDS, including people who have lost children or parents and those who are infected themselves.
